weeks before its report was released
Ultimately, the American Medical Association agreed to support the
RMP after a statement was inserted into the initial national guidelines
specifying that the RMP would not alter the relationship between the
patient and his physician: "To accomplish these ends without
interfering with the patterns, or the methods of financing, of patient
care or professional practice." [AER]
