one of the first regional programs to receive a planning grant was Missouri

The Missouri Regional Medical Program was awarded a Planning Grant [first year funding $398,556] on July 1, 1966. Other RMP grantees funded at that same time were Albany, Connecticut, Hawaii, Intermountain, Kansas, North Carolina, Northern New England, and Tennessee Mid-South. Also, Missouri was one of the first three regions awarded Operational Grants [first year funding $2,887,903] effective April 1, 1967. Albany and Intermountain were funded on that same date. [AER]
