Cardiologists from the Medical School and engineers from the Engineering School determined the requirements and specifications for an intensive care unit to serve the coronary patient. Many hospitals found this information valuable as they established intensive care units. Dr. Glen Turner in Springfield placed emphasis on concealing as much of the essential treatment and monitoring equipment within the wall. This practice has become common in most hospitals today. [AER]
