The telephone together with the computer added a substantial
extension to the medical schools' ability to provide consultation
services to rural areas. Diagnostic services such as a differential
diagnostic computer program called CONSIDER developed by Dr. Donald
Lindberg, the computerized EKG, biomedical information services, Drug
Information Central, continuing education, and other projects are
